How it works
Four steps, from first question to signed documents. You can stop at any point and pick up where you left off.
How it works
-
Choose your service
Answer a few quick checks so we know our service suits your circumstances.
-
Answer the questions
One question at a time, in plain English, with help on every step. Your answers save as you go.
-
We check everything
Our team reviews your answers, asks if anything needs clarifying, and prepares your documents for you to check.
-
Sign, and register if needed
Follow our signing and witnessing guidance. LPAs are then registered with the Office of the Public Guardian.
When you pay: You pay after you have told us everything — not before. If our team needs to look at your circumstances first, we will speak to you before asking for payment.
Signing a Will
Your Will only becomes valid once you sign it in front of two witnesses who are both present at the same time, and who then each sign it in front of you.
Witnesses should be independent adults. Anyone who benefits from your Will, or their husband, wife or civil partner, should not be a witness.
Signing and registering an LPA
An LPA is signed by you, then your certificate provider, then your attorneys and any replacement attorneys. It must then be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before anyone can use it.
The Office of the Public Guardian charges a fee for each LPA it registers, and registration takes some weeks. Check GOV.UK for current fees and timescales.
Getting started
How long does it take?
Most people finish the questions for a Will in around 20 to 40 minutes, and an LPA in a similar time. You do not have to do it in one go — your answers are saved each time you continue, so you can stop and come back on any device.
Will a person check my answers?
Yes. When you send your answers, our team reviews them before anything is prepared. If something is unclear, or your circumstances need a closer look, we will contact you through your account.
What if my situation is complicated?
Some circumstances — such as property abroad, a business, trusts, or wanting to leave someone out — need extra care. Our quick checks at the start pick these up, and our team will look at your situation personally before going further. If you would be better served elsewhere, we will tell you.
Can someone help me fill it in?
Yes, family or friends can help you use the website. The decisions must be your own, and nobody should pressure you into them. For an LPA, only the person the LPA is for can make it.
Start today. Finish whenever suits you.
It takes a minute to begin, and your answers are saved as you go.
