Choosing your executors
Your executors carry out your wishes. Here is what the role involves and how to choose well.
Your executors deal with your estate after you die. It is a responsible role, so it is worth choosing carefully.
What executors do
- Find out what you owned and owed.
- Apply for probate where needed.
- Pay debts and any tax.
- Pass everything on as your Will says.
Choosing well
Pick people who are trustworthy, organised and likely to be around. Ask them first. Naming a reserve executor covers you if someone cannot act.
